Suspected gunmen kill POS operator, flee with cash in Benue

An unidentified young man operating a Point-of-Sale (POS) business was shot and killed by armed robbers in Gboko, the headquarters of Gboko Local Government Area in Benue State. The incident occurred on Monday, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Witnesses report that the victim was serving customers when the attackers arrived and opened fire, fatally wounding him. The assailants fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
One eyewitness, who requested anonymity, described the attack as swift and unexpected, revealing that many residents were left terrified. “It happened so fast. We never imagined such violence here,” the witness said.
Community members have expressed their sorrow, describing the victim as a diligent individual striving to make a living. They extended condolences to his family and offered prayers for comfort during this difficult time.
As of this report, officials from the Benue State Police Command, including spokesperson DSP Udeme Edet, were unavailable for comment. However, sources indicate that an investigation into the shooting is underway.
