Police arrest two applicants over alleged forged NECO certificates in Bauchi

Bauchi Police Arrest Two Applicants for Forged NECO Certificates
Bauchi, Nigeria – The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two individuals applying for recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force on charges of possessing forged National Examinations Council (NECO) certificates. The arrests were made during a screening exercise held at the Police Training School in Bauchi.
Police spokesperson Nafiu Habib announced the arrests in a statement on Saturday, detailing that the screening was supervised by team leader A.Y. Dickson, who oversaw the process at the training facility.
The screening involved 403 candidates, comprising 354 applicants for general duty and 49 for specialist roles. During the verification of credentials, the two suspects—both named Yusuf Usman—were found to have falsified NECO results. Habib noted that the pair had attended the screening together prior to the discovery of the discrepancies in their documents.
Following the identification of the forged certificates, Dickson directed that the suspects be handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of the ‘E’ Division for further investigation.
Habib cautioned all prospective applicants against any form of dishonesty during the recruitment process. This screening is part of a nationwide effort to recruit 50,000 police constables, which commenced earlier this week.
