Osun police arrest three suspects for alleged criminal activities

Three Arrested in Osogbo During Police Raid
OSOGBO, Osun State — The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three individuals during a recent intelligence-led operation aimed at curbing criminal activities in the area.
According to a statement from the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the arrests occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in the vicinity of Ede Junction, a location identified as a criminal hub.
The suspects are Musa Taoreed, known as “Toyo,” Musa Muritala Akinde, and Muri Akinni. They are currently in custody as investigations continue to ascertain their involvement in alleged criminal activities.
The police emphasized that these arrests are part of ongoing, intelligence-driven efforts to enhance public safety and maintain order throughout Osun State. The operations, they noted, will persist in various areas of the state leading up to and following the upcoming governorship election.
Officials have refuted claims that these security measures are politically motivated, stating that the raids are intended solely for public safety. “These operations are not aimed at any individual, group, or political party. They are professional policing efforts designed to eliminate criminal elements,” the statement read.
The police expressed concern over attempts by some individuals and groups to politicize lawful security measures, warning that such actions could incite unnecessary tension and mislead the community.
CP Ibrahim Gotan urged parents and guardians to advise their children against late-night outings, suspicious gatherings, and associations with individuals of questionable character. He also called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities to their local police station.
Reaffirming the Command’s dedication to neutrality and professionalism, Gotan stated that all security operations are conducted impartially and in accordance with the law, with the overarching goal of preserving peace and security in Osun State.
