Birnin Gwari Road: Uba Sani will break own record – KADRA MD

Governor Uba Sani’s Road Project to Outdo Previous Record
Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State — Governor Uba Sani is set to surpass his previous achievements with the upcoming completion of the 36-kilometer Bagoma-Gagumi road project, which is currently under construction in Birnin Gwari local government. This new roadway will exceed the previously commissioned Gadan Gayan-Gwaraji-Kujama road, which was unveiled in February.
Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), made this announcement during an inspection of the site over the weekend. He praised the governor’s efforts in rural transformation, describing them as “revolutionary.”
Earlier this year, Governor Sani commissioned what was reported as the longest road constructed in the past two decades, spanning 35 kilometers and connecting the Igabi, Kajuru, and Chikun local governments. This project also includes a 130-meter bridge over the Kaduna River, serving multiple rural communities.
During the inspection of the Bagoma-Gagumi road, Dr. Baba Ahmed noted that the project will benefit 66 farming communities in the Birnin Gwari area upon completion. He emphasized the importance of this road in facilitating access for farmers to markets, and for residents to schools and healthcare facilities, thereby significantly enhancing the local economy.
“The Bagoma-Gagumi road will improve transportation of produce, especially in Birnin Gwari, one of Nigeria’s leading maize-producing local governments,” he stated, adding that residents can expect improved access to vital services, along with better job opportunities.
This road initiative is part of Governor Uba Sani’s broader plan to construct 1,345 kilometers of roads across 20 local government areas. According to Dr. Baba Ahmed, the governor has launched 150 projects, of which 66 have already been completed.
The construction is being carried out by CGC Nigeria Limited, a prominent firm specializing in infrastructure projects. Dr. Baba Ahmed indicated that, while the project is slated for completion by the end of the year, the contractor has committed to an earlier delivery.
Mr. Wang Hongxi, CGC’s Northern Regional Manager, assured that the company is increasing its workforce and working diligently to complete the project on time.
Local residents have expressed optimism about the road’s potential to enhance their livelihoods. Alhaji Musa Bagoma, a resident, remarked on the transformative nature of the project, stating, “The road, which had been neglected for years, is being upgraded to a modern highway.”
Alhaji Dangajere Gagumi, a local trader, added, “This road will change our lives. We will be able to transport our goods to the market more easily, and our children can attend school without concern about the rough terrain.”
Mallam Ibrahim Mande further noted that the Sani administration is committed to improving the lives of rural dwellers, expressing gratitude for the governor’s efforts.
