Marc Lamont Hill Discusses Corporate Media’s Role in Gaza Crisis
In an episode of UpFront, journalist Marc Lamont Hill engages author Adam Johnson in a conversation about the role of U.S. corporate media in the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Johnson, who recently published How to Sell a Genocide, examines how media narratives may normalize violence against Palestinians.
Since the ceasefire brokered by the U.S. in October, Israel has reportedly violated the agreement, resulting in the deaths of over 1,000 Palestinians, including at least 265 children. The recent destruction at Gaza’s Bureij refugee camp led to the death of Al Jazeera journalist Ahmed Wishah, marking him as the 12th Al Jazeera reporter killed in the region since October 7, 2023. This brings the total number of Palestinian journalists lost to more than 200 during the conflict.
The discussion raises critical questions about the influence of Western media in shaping public perceptions and political responses to the crisis in Gaza.
