ADC Urges President Tinubu to Address All Victims of Insecurity Equally
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to extend equal concern to all victims of insecurity in Nigeria. The party emphasized that those abducted in locations such as Kaiama, Borno, and Zamfara deserve the same attention afforded to victims recently rescued in Oyo State.
In a statement from National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC highlighted the case of 176 residents of Woro community in Kaiama, Kwara State, who were kidnapped on February 3, 2026, and remain unaccounted for. The party posed a challenge to the President, requesting updates on efforts to secure their release.
The ADC criticized the President’s public acknowledgment of the recent rescues in Oyo, questioning the fate of those still held captive. They referenced the recent abduction of 40 residents in Zamfara, violent incidents in Benue, the kidnapping of Kebbi High Court Judge Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, and persistent insecurity in Borno as indicators of a broader problem.
Local residents of Kaiama have recently organized peaceful protests, expressing concerns over the ongoing captivity of their loved ones. The ADC noted that the demonstration was not politically motivated, but rather a plea from citizens who fear their relatives may have been abandoned.
The party urged the President to provide regular updates on rescue operations and the progress made regarding the victims still in captivity. It reiterated the expectation for concrete results in addressing insecurity, particularly in northern Nigeria.
Furthermore, the ADC criticized what they described as the President’s growing reputation as “a professional statement-maker” on security issues, citing a gap between reassuring declarations and tangible outcomes.
The opposition party concluded by asserting that true leadership is measured not by the speed of government celebrations surrounding rescues, but by ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind or forgotten.
