AFCON 2027Q: Onyeka sets winning target for Super Eagles
Frank Onyeka, a member of Nigeria’s national football team, emphasized the importance of winning every match as the Super Eagles embark on their qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Nigeria will kick off its Group L qualifiers with a home match against Madagascar’s Barea on Friday. The match is scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, with a start time of 5 p.m. local time.
In a press briefing held in Uyo, Onyeka highlighted the team’s commitment to a strong start in the qualifiers. “Just like every other match that we’ll be playing, we have to win every game,” he stated.
Reflecting on the disappointment of not qualifying for the recent World Cup, Onyeka expressed optimism about the upcoming AFCON tournament. “I know we’re quite disappointed not to qualify for the World Cup, but now we’re back. We have something to prepare for, which is the AFCON next year,” he said.
