Armed Robbers Target Power Substation in Ogbomoso
Ogbomoso, Oyo State — An armed robbery at a 132KVA power substation in Ogbomoso occurred on Monday, according to reports received by the DAILY POST. The substation, located at Temidire/Ajeja along Ikirun Road, was reportedly attacked by a group of six armed individuals.
Witnesses indicated that the assailants were well-equipped and utilized various tools to remove equipment from the facility. The suspects successfully fled the scene, though the specific value of the stolen items has not yet been disclosed.
A guard at the substation, who requested to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident. Following the attack, several chiefs from the Palace of Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Afolabi Olaoye, visited the site to assess the damage.
Officials from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) also arrived from the Ganmo station to evaluate the situation. Among those present were Engineering team members, including Assistant General Manager of Transmission Engr. Adetunji, Eng. Afusat Umar Muazu, and Engr. Adetoyinbo A. Adekunle.
As of Tuesday afternoon, further details regarding the theft and the ongoing investigation were still emerging.
