Army troops intercept woman, child allegedly heading to terrorist enclave in Borno

Troops Intercept Woman and Child Near Terrorist Enclave in Borno State

Borno State—Soldiers from the 26 Task Force Brigade, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, apprehended a 20-year-old woman and her two-year-old child while they allegedly attempted to access a terrorist-controlled area near the Mandara Mountains.

The arrest of the woman, identified as Aisha Idrisa, occurred along the Gwoza–Pulka Road, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama. The interception took place at the foothills of the Mandara Mountains, an area known for the presence of remnants from terrorist groups operating along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.

At the time of her arrest, Aisha was accompanied by her child, Musbahu Christopher. Soldiers recovered several items from her, including an Itel mobile phone, an extra battery, and personal clothing.

During initial questioning, Aisha claimed she was en route to her farm. However, intelligence gathered by the troops indicated she may have been attempting to gain access to a terrorist enclave. As a result, she was taken into custody for further investigation.

“This interception is part of ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to restrict movement routes used by insurgents and their collaborators in the region, particularly around the Mandara Mountains, where troops have intensified clearance and surveillance operations,” said Makama.
