SHAGARI, Sokoto State — Troops involved in Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully forced suspected bandits to retreat during an operation in Shagari Local Government Area, recovering 147 stolen livestock.
The operation took place when troops intercepted the bandits migrating with the stolen animals. As a result, the bandits abandoned their haul and fled the scene.

The recovered livestock included 101 cows, 44 sheep, and two camels. Additionally, troops seized three motorcycles believed to have been used by the fleeing suspects, as reported by security analyst Bakatsine on X.
The livestock has since been returned to their rightful owners, providing much-needed relief to families reliant on these animals for their livelihood.
In a related incident, Bakatsine reported on Tuesday night that suspected bandits launched an attack on multiple villages in the Shagari Local Government Area, including Kaura, Wanke, Sage, Marake, and Aggur. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers rustled a significant number of livestock, injured several residents, and shot two individuals in the legs. The injured have since been transported to Shagari General Hospital for medical treatment.
