Troops Respond to Bandit Attack in Zamfara State
GUSAU, Zamfara State — Troops operating under Operation Fansan Yamma responded to an attack by armed bandits in the Gusau Local Government Area on April 25, resulting in the deaths of three local hunters.
The incident was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Monday via social media platform X. Sources within the security circles indicated that the attack occurred around 4:12 p.m., shortly after soldiers stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Wanke, in collaboration with local vigilantes, received alerts regarding bandit activity in Gidan Gabi village.
According to the sources, the troops quickly mobilized to the area and attempted to pursue the attackers. However, a river obstructed their path, enabling the bandits to escape.
The sources confirmed that during the encounter, three hunters lost their lives, and the attackers made off with an undetermined number of cattle.
Authorities stated that efforts to locate the bandits are ongoing, and security measures have been enhanced in the region to deter further incidents.
