Boko Haram suspects invade Dapchi, burn police station, telecoms masts

Suspected Boko Haram Insurgents Attack Dapchi, Yobe State

Dapchi, Yobe State—Suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked the town of Dapchi, the headquarters of Bursari Local Government Area, late Thursday evening. Reports indicate the assailants entered the community around 11 p.m.

A local resident, who requested anonymity, described the incursion, stating that the attackers set fire to three telecommunications masts, a police station, an ambulance from a nearby hospital, and a primary healthcare facility. The source also reported that the assailants stole motorcycles and took mobile phones from residents during their three-hour operation, which went unchallenged.

“We currently have no telecommunications services in the town,” the resident said. “I had to go to a neighboring community to access the network.”

As of this report, there has been no official statement from the military or police regarding the incident. This marks the second time in less than a month that Dapchi has faced an attack by suspected Boko Haram militants, with the previous assault occurring on April 4, 2026.
