Three Convicted in Oyo State Kidnapping Case, Sentenced to Life Imprisonment
Three individuals have been sentenced to life imprisonment following their conviction for involvement in the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in the Orire local government area of Oyo State. The Department of State Services (DSS) brought them to trial for their affiliations with a proscribed terrorist organization.
Justice Salim Ibrahim of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued the sentencing for Abdulrazak Umar, known as Abu Khalifa/Abu Khalid; Yunusa Musa, also referred to as Yunusa Bin Musa; and Shamsu Adamu Sani, known as Abu Itisar. The conviction stemmed from their admissions of being associated with the bandits responsible for the kidnapping.
While the defendants faced ten charges, they pleaded guilty to counts related to their concealment of the bandits’ activities. Consequently, they received life sentences for their roles in the crimes.
