Cross River Police Impound 25 Vehicles for Registration Violations
CALABAR, Cross River State — The Cross River State Police Command has seized 25 vehicles in Calabar for operating without valid registration plates and for displaying altered, covered, or unauthorized dealer number plates.
The enforcement action aligns with a nationwide directive from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, aimed at reducing the use of vehicles with concealed or irregular registration. The operation took place across the Calabar metropolis on July 3, 2026.
Police Public Relations Officer ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata confirmed the interception of the vehicles. He noted that the owners are currently undergoing appropriate administrative and legal processes in accordance with relevant laws.
“This initiative is designed to enhance public safety, facilitate vehicle identification, and prevent criminal elements from exploiting the anonymity that comes with unregistered or obscured number plates,” Akata stated.
The police command reiterated its commitment to intelligence-led and community-oriented policing, indicating that enforcement efforts will continue throughout the state.
Motorists are encouraged to adhere to vehicle registration and traffic regulations to avoid penalties, while residents are urged to support law enforcement by promptly reporting any suspicious activities through the police’s dedicated emergency lines.
