Benue Links Nigeria Limited Addresses Driver’s Unauthorized Trip Following Kidnapping of Students

The management of Benue Links Nigeria Limited has confirmed that the driver involved in a recent kidnapping incident was not authorized to operate the bus carrying 14 students to their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Benue State.

According to reports, the group of admission seekers, along with other passengers, was abducted on Thursday while traveling from Makurdi to Otukpo in an 18-seater bus registered to Benue Links Motors.

In a statement issued by Information Officer Johnson Ehi Daniel, the management described the trip as unauthorized. The statement emphasized that the company has an established policy prohibiting travel by company vehicles after 6:00 p.m. due to ongoing security concerns.

Daniel further explained that the driver acted independently, taking the bus from company premises and picking up passengers without the necessary documentation or clearance from management.

The statement also noted that the driver, who escaped from the kidnappers, is currently in the custody of the Benue State Police Command, where further investigations are ongoing.
