EFCC secures interim attachment of two properties in Ado-Ekiti

EFCC Secures Attachment of Properties in Fraud Case

The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has obtained a court order for the interim attachment of a lounge and a four-bedroom bungalow in Ado-Ekiti amid an ongoing fraud investigation.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Ilorin granted the application on Monday, May 25, 2026, stating that the EFCC met the legal requirements for such an order.

According to the EFCC, the properties involved include the Town Tavern Lounge, located at No. 1 Ikere Road, off Florence Court School, and a four-bedroom bungalow along Florence Court in Irewolede Estate, both in Ado-Ekiti.

The properties reportedly belong to Olorunbukunmi Taiwo, 43, who is accused of defrauding Lady Anazia Colina Kenechukwu of N1.980 billion. Kenechukwu claims Taiwo falsely asserted he had secured a road construction contract from the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and solicited her financial support for the project.

Kenechukwu stated that she became aware of the alleged scam when Taiwo ceased communications, failing to respond to her calls and texts, and did not refund her money.

In court, EFCC counsel Cosmas Ugwu argued for the interim attachment of the properties, which Justice Awogboro ultimately approved, finding merit in the application.
