Bauchi: Troops arrest driver as NURTW members allegedly assault soldier
A soldier was reportedly assaulted Wednesday by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at the Zwall Guard Location in the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:02 p.m. when troops from Sector 8, Sub-Sector 82, under Operation ENDURING PEACE, responded to reports of the assault.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama stated that the soldier, identified as Hezekiah Usoko, was attempting to address a commercial driver accused of obstructing traffic while picking up passengers when the NURTW members allegedly attacked him.
Makama reported that Usoko sustained minor injuries during the confrontation.
Upon their arrival, troops arrested the involved commercial driver and impounded the vehicle, a Zectra with the registration number KTS 462-KTN.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
