El-Rufai Family Denounces Fake Letter on Social Media
The family of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has condemned a letter circulating on social media as fraudulent. The document, which claims to be addressed to the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has been dismissed as a fabrication.
In a statement released Thursday by his son, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, the family clarified that the letter titled “Urgent Message” and dated July 14, 2026, was not authored by the former governor.
According to the statement, the letter, allegedly directed to the National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, should be disregarded by the public. The family emphasized that the content and handwriting of the letter do not belong to El-Rufai, asserting that it is an attempt to induce confusion.
“The former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, CON, wishes to alert the public that a fake letter is in circulation,” the statement read. It went on to describe the letter as another desperate measure by individuals attempting to create division and chaos.
Features of the circulated letter reportedly included questions about Isah Ashiru’s candidacy for the ADC governorship in Kaduna State. It suggested that Ashiru’s nomination had resulted in internal discord within the party due to an alleged failure to complete online membership registration by an April 30, 2026, deadline, which it identified as a constitutional requirement.
The document also called for intervention from the ADC’s national and state leadership regarding the matter. However, the El-Rufai family reiterated that the former governor has no ties to the letter, urging the public to reject it.
