EPL: He kicked Foden – Alan Shearer slams pathetic Bruno Fernandes

Alan Shearer, a legendary figure in Newcastle United’s history, has criticized Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes following the team’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City in a Premier League derby on Sunday.
In a discussion on the podcast “The Rest Is Football,” Shearer described Fernandes’s actions during the match as “pathetic.” He argued that Fernandes engaged in play-acting in an attempt to influence the referee’s decision regarding Phil Foden, who received a red card for a foul on Fernandes in the first half.
The match, held at Old Trafford, saw Erling Haaland score the only goal of the game in the second half, securing Manchester City’s victory. Shearer pointed out that while Fernandes appeared to be the victim, he himself had kicked Foden during the incident.
“I thought the way Bruno Fernandes went down was pathetic,” Shearer said. “He helped get Foden off, and yes, he kicked out at him a little bit, but Bruno Fernandes has also kicked Phil Foden.”
