EPL: Scholes names two teams that will not challenge Arsenal for title
Paul Scholes, a former Manchester United midfielder and club legend, has expressed his belief that Manchester United and Chelsea will not compete for the Premier League title this season.
In comments made on “The Good, The Bad and The Football” podcast, Scholes stated that the Red Devils, who have accumulated four points from their first three matches, lack the necessary defensive strength to challenge for the championship. He remarked, “They will be top four, but don’t be expecting a title challenge, no chance. It’s obvious that defensively they’re not good enough. They are going to concede goals.”
Chelsea has had a mixed start to the season, securing victories against Fulham and Brighton but suffering a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal last Sunday. Scholes noted that Chelsea also needs improvement, adding, “I don’t think Chelsea are a title rival; I think they’ve got a bit of work to do.”
Currently, Arsenal and Manchester City are the only two teams in the league with a perfect record, leading Scholes to predict that the title race will be largely confined to those clubs.
