Tinubu Accepts APC Nomination for 2027 Presidential Election

ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu formally accepted the nomination of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election in a speech delivered Sunday at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.

Addressing party members and supporters, Tinubu emphasized the collective commitment to building a stable and prosperous Nigeria. Reflecting on the past, he recalled his own candidacy during the previous election cycle, expressing gratitude for the support that led to his presidency.

“Today, I return as your incumbent President—humbled by your enduring support and encouraged by your continued confidence,” he stated.

Tinubu outlined the achievements of his administration, highlighting advancements in education, power supply, and economic reforms. He noted the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which has disbursed over N282 billion to more than 1.5 million beneficiaries, and reported progress in closing the metering gap in electricity.

He also discussed the government’s efforts to strengthen the economy through structural reforms, which have increased foreign reserves and improved the naira’s performance. He detailed ongoing infrastructure projects, including enhancements to transportation, housing, and the oil and gas sector.

While acknowledging the challenges that remain, including rising costs and security concerns, Tinubu assured attendees of the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He stressed the importance of enhancing security measures and fostering community partnerships.

“We will not rest until we restore peace and stability to every corner of our country,” he said.

Tinubu called for national unity and cooperation among all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation. He urged constituents to view the upcoming election not merely as a political contest but as an opportunity to affirm Nigeria’s democratic maturity.

In closing, he reiterated his commitment to inclusivity and strong governance. “Together, and with the help of God Almighty, we shall build a more secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria for generations to come,” he concluded.
