Gov Kefas reaffirms commitment to rebuild Taraba Govt House

Governor Agbu Kefas Commits to Modernizing Taraba State Government House
Jalingo, Taraba State – Governor Agbu Kefas has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to renovating and modernizing the State Government House. This initiative aims to align the facility with contemporary governance demands and enhance services for residents.
Kefas made the announcement on Monday while receiving reports from two committees: the Zonal Security Summit Committee and the Committee on Acquisition and Compensation of Land necessary for the Government House expansion.
During the meeting, he emphasized the inadequacy of the current Government House, which has remained largely unchanged for decades. “The proposed expansion is essential to ensure that we have sufficient space and modern facilities required for effective administration,” the governor stated, citing the committee’s findings.
The report also highlighted the need for reconstruction and upgrading of existing structures within the Government House complex to enhance their functionality.
Earlier in the session, John Kizito Bonzena, the chairman of the Zonal Security Summit Committee and Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, affirmed that the committee’s recommendations are aimed at improving security coordination and enhancing public safety across the state.
Rev. Jolly Nyame, chairman of the Committee on Land Acquisition and Compensation, emphasized the thorough consultations conducted with stakeholders and landowners in the proposed expansion area. He noted that the government communicated its expansion plans clearly, ensuring that affected parties were included in discussions.
The findings from both reports are anticipated to guide the Taraba State Government in making informed policy decisions regarding security and the planned redevelopment of the Government House.
Governor Kefas’s commitment to this project marks a significant step toward transforming the historic complex into a modern administrative center capable of efficiently supporting the state’s governance.
