Former Councillor Killed in Plateau State Attack

Riyom, Plateau State — Gunmen attacked the Rim Community on Sunday night, resulting in the death of former councillor Daniel Danjuma, also known as “Hon. Star.” The assault took place around 10:45 p.m., according to local sources.

Twang Tengwong, spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM), confirmed the incident and condemned the violence. “This attack is unacceptable,” Tengwong stated, emphasizing the organization’s sorrow over the loss of a former legislator in the area.

The assailants reportedly launched the attack in large numbers, originating from a location known as Kess, or Bangai-Fulani, and fired indiscriminately during their incursion into the community. During the incident, another resident, identified as David Dachollom Danjuma, sustained a gunshot injury.

The BYM has called on law enforcement and the Plateau State Government to take swift action to apprehend those responsible for the attack, ensuring justice for Danjuma’s family and the Torok Community.

Tengwong urged authorities to intensify security measures in the region, noting that the continuous attacks on innocent citizens must come to an end.

As of now, DSP Alabo Alfred, spokesperson for the Plateau State Police, has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
