KATSINA-ALA, Benue State — An attack by suspected armed herders on the Sai Community in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area has left several people feared dead. The assault, which occurred Tuesday, resulted in multiple injuries and has forced numerous families to flee their homes.
Witnesses reported that the attackers entered the community in large groups, firing indiscriminately and setting several houses ablaze. The violence prompted panic among residents, many of whom sought refuge in nearby bushes.
Security sources stated that troops and other personnel were promptly deployed to the area in response to distress calls. Their efforts focused on repelling the attackers, restoring order, and preventing the spread of violence.
Injured individuals were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. Meanwhile, security agencies began search operations to locate missing residents and minimize further casualties.
The incident resulted in significant property damage, displacing many families. In response, the Nigerian Army, along with other security agencies, has intensified patrols in Sai and surrounding communities to deter further attacks and reassure residents of their safety.
