Insecurity: Four bandits killed as troops, vigilantes free abducted victims in Kwara

Security Forces Neutralize Four Bandits, Rescue Abducted Victims in Kwara State

KAIAMA, Nigeria — Security forces have successfully eliminated four bandits and rescued two victims who had been abducted in the Aboki community of the Kaiama Local Government Area, according to reports.

The operation was initiated following local alerts about a kidnapping incident that unfolded on Tuesday night. Eyewitness accounts revealed that five armed assailants targeted the community but were met with swift resistance from security agents.

During the assault, the bandits kidnapped Alhaji Tukur but were intercepted by security forces, resulting in the neutralization of four of the attackers. One bandit managed to escape with gunshot injuries, reports indicate.

Both Alhaji Tukur and another abducted individual were freed unharmed, a local source confirmed.

This incident reflects a broader strategy by the government to enhance security measures in response to rising concerns over kidnapping and violence in the region. Recently, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the establishment of a new army battalion in Omu-Aran, located in the Kwara South Senatorial District. This initiative aims to bolster efforts against terrorism and banditry across the area.
