Nigerian Army Rescues Kidnap Victim, Recovers Ransom
QUA’AN PAN, Plateau State — The Nigerian Army announced the successful rescue of a kidnapped individual and the recovery of 8 million Naira, which had been paid as ransom to terrorists, in the Qua’an Pan Local Government Area on Saturday.
A statement from Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, indicated that troops deployed in Sector 9 Shendam conducted the rescue operation on April 25, 2026. The operation was prompted by the abduction of a woman from the Bauna area of Shendam on April 19.
Oteh reported that through extensive intelligence gathering and the interrogation of a detained suspect, troops were able to pinpoint the victim’s location in the Padam Forest. The operation not only led to her safe recovery but also resulted in the retrieval of the ransom funds.
Following her rescue, the victim was given a medical assessment at Shendam General Hospital to ensure her health before being reunited with her family. The recovered ransom of 8 million Naira was also returned to them.
Currently, military personnel are conducting further operations to investigate the kidnappers’ hideouts in both Qua’an Pan and Shendam local government areas, with the aim of apprehending additional members of the criminal syndicate.
The Joint Task Force expressed gratitude for the community’s support and urged citizens to provide timely information to aid ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
