IPOB: Unity non-negotiable – New DOS Head, Nwaogu demands total closure of ranks behind Kanu

New Leadership Takes Helm of Indigenous People of Biafra

MAZI Chris Nwaogu has been appointed as the new Head of the 4th Administration of the Directorate of State (DOS) for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). During his acceptance speech on Wednesday, Nwaogu emphasized that unity within the organization is now a “non-negotiable” principle.

His appointment follows the dissolution of the previous administration, led by Chika Edoziem, announced by IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu on the same day. The DOS, established by Kanu in 2012 to serve as IPOB’s administrative body, has seen leadership changes over the years, with Nwaogu becoming the fourth in line.

In a statement shared with journalists on Thursday, Nwaogu called for all IPOB members to rally behind Kanu, who is currently serving a life sentence in Sokoto prison for terrorism-related charges. He expressed gratitude for his appointment and pledged unwavering loyalty to the organization, acknowledging the sacrifices made by members in the quest for a sovereign Biafra.

Nwaogu’s acceptance speech highlighted his awareness of the responsibilities he now holds and the expectations of Biafrans worldwide regarding the movement’s goals. He praised Kanu for his resilience amid challenges and recognized the contributions of those who have lost their lives in pursuit of Biafra.

He stated, “The 4th Administration shall dedicate itself to the urgent priorities entrusted to us by our Leader and by our people.” He emphasized the importance of unity and rededication to their cause, urging members to focus on their tasks under Kanu’s leadership.

A central priority for Nwaogu’s administration will be the unconditional release of Kanu and other detained Biafra agitators. He outlined additional objectives, including diplomatic engagement to promote the Biafra cause and enhancing security in the southeastern region of Nigeria.

Addressing concerns regarding misinformation, Nwaogu vowed to combat false narratives surrounding IPOB. He stated, “Our first and most immediate priority remains the unconditional release of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and all Biafran prisoners of conscience.”

He also articulated the need for a referendum as a democratic means for the people to determine their political future, reaffirming IPOB’s commitment to peaceful self-determination and justice.

Nwaogu concluded by commending the outgoing Edoziem administration for their efforts during a tumultuous time in IPOB’s history, marking a new chapter for the organization with a call for discipline and unity among its members.
