Iran: Details of new US nuclear framework revealed

U.S. Offers New Nuclear Framework to Iran Amid Negotiation Uncertainty

The United States government has introduced a new nuclear framework to Iran as uncertainty looms over the resumption of direct negotiations, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

The proposal includes expectations that Iran will publicly state it does not pursue nuclear weapons and will agree to on-demand inspections, with penalties for any violations. The Trump Administration’s demands also call for the transfer of all enriched uranium stockpiles and a moratorium on uranium enrichment for 20 years, initially proposed as a permanent measure.

In addition, the U.S. seeks the dismantling of the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear facilities, alongside a complete prohibition of underground nuclear operations. The proposal further emphasizes the reopening of the Hormuz Strait, contingent upon the gradual easing of the naval blockade. However, any relief from sanctions would be performance-based and not immediate.

In response to these developments, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf appealed to citizens to maintain their resilience while addressing Iranians abroad in an audio message on Wednesday. He urged them to support the nation’s struggle against what he described as external efforts to weaken the Islamic Republic through sanctions and a maritime blockade.

“The enemy has pinned great hope on economic pressure,” Ghalibaf stated. “I am surprised they still have not understood that the Iranian nation will give their lives but will not surrender.”

He emphasized that achieving victory in the current conflict would elevate Iran’s status on the global stage, fostering both material and spiritual development for the nation. Ghalibaf called for collective support among citizens to navigate the ongoing hardships and encouraged experts to propose solutions to the challenges faced due to the situation. He noted that Iranians living abroad could play a significant role in countering the perceived threats against the country.
