Israeli attacks kill several over two days in Gaza despite ‘ceasefire’ | Israel-Palestine conflict News

Israeli Attacks on Gaza Continue Amid Ongoing Ceasefire

Gaza City—In the span of two days, multiple airstrikes from Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip have resulted in several Palestinian casualties, despite a ceasefire that has been in place for seven months. The ceasefire, established between Israel and Hamas, has not prevented Israeli military operations in both Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

On Thursday, brothers Abdelmalek and Abdel Sattar al-Attar were killed when an Israeli drone targeted Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza. Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for the Palestinian Civil Defence, indicated that this area was beyond the stated Israeli control zone associated with the ceasefire. Later that same day, a nine-year-old boy, Saleh Badawi, was fatally shot by Israeli forces in the Zeitoun neighborhood east of Gaza City. Additionally, 38-year-old Mohsen al-Dabbari lost his life due to Israeli gunfire south of Khan Younis. Three individuals, including a teenage boy, sustained injuries when Israeli forces opened fire on homes and tents sheltering displaced individuals near the Maghazi refugee camp.

On Friday, two more brothers, Mohammed and Eid Abu Warda, were killed while transporting water along Mansoura Street in the Shujayea neighborhood. Another brother was injured. Separately, an Israeli drone struck a water desalination facility in the same area, resulting in one more death and several injuries, according to reports from the Wafa news agency.

The Gaza Government Media Office reports that Israel has committed 2,400 violations of the ceasefire since it began in October. These violations reportedly include killings, arrests, and policies leading to food shortages. The Gaza Ministry of Health reported that more than 72,340 individuals have been killed since October 2023, with at least 765 fatalities occurring since the ceasefire commenced. Among the deceased are at least 32 individuals who died in April alone, including journalist Mohammed Wishah, killed in a drone strike on April 8.

Raids and Attacks in the West Bank

In the occupied West Bank, predawn raids were reported on Friday across various governorates. Activists reported that Israeli settlers set fire to two vehicles during an assault on Palestinian homes in the southern region. Local activist Osama Makhmara stated that armed Israeli settlers infiltrated the Majd al-Ba’a area west of Yatta, damaging property owned by brothers Khaled and Yasser Abu Ali.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces conducted operations in ar-Ram town, north of Jerusalem, where they reportedly broke into homes and arrested several individuals. Additional raids occurred in Nablus, with soldiers ransacking residences and detaining approximately a dozen Palestinians across both regions.

These military raids are conducted without search warrants under Israeli military law, which extends authority over approximately three million Palestinians who have limited input on the laws governing them.

According to Addameer, a Palestinian prisoner support and human rights organization, there are currently 9,600 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli detention facilities, including 342 minors and 84 women. Of this total, 3,532 are held under administrative detention, which allows for imprisonment without charge or trial.

The United Nations reported this week that Israeli military actions and state-supported settler activities contribute to what experts describe as ethnic cleansing. They cited instances of violence resulting in fatalities and injuries, particularly affecting women and children, alongside widespread destruction of Palestinian homes and agricultural resources.
