Troops Arrest Suspected Bandit in Kaduna State
Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State — Troops participating in Operation Fansan Yamma have apprehended a suspected bandit identified as 32-year-old Ibrahim Adamu during a checkpoint operation on May 8. The arrest took place around 6:04 p.m. in the Damari area, according to security sources who communicated the details to security analyst Zagazola Makama via social media.
Adamu was intercepted while riding a motorcycle at a snap roadblock set up by troops from the 2 Battalion stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Dogon Dawa. A subsequent search revealed an AK-47 magazine, three mobile phones, Indian hemp, and other personal items.
Preliminary analysis of the recovered mobile phones indicated the presence of incriminating images, with Adamu appearing in military-style attire alongside individuals believed to be fellow bandits, armed with a PKT machine gun.
Authorities reported that Adamu and the seized items have been transferred to the battalion headquarters for further investigation.
Despite the recent arrest, military officials described the security situation in the region as stable but noted the potential for unpredictability. Troops have reportedly increased surveillance and patrol efforts in the area.
