Kano State Fire Service Reports Monthly Incident Statistics
Kano, Nigeria — The Kano State Fire Service logged 20 fire incidents and responded to 13 emergency rescue calls throughout July 2026, according to a statement released on Saturday by Public Relations Officer Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.
The report noted that there were five false alarms during the month. In total, ten individuals lost their lives in various fire-related incidents, while six people were rescued from emergency situations.
The financial impact of these fire incidents was significant, with property damage estimated at N9.381 million. However, firefighters managed to save assets valued at N37.524 million.
In response to the report, Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged residents to handle fire with caution and ensure that all sources of ignition are properly extinguished after use. He emphasized that neglecting to do so could result in preventable fire outbreaks, leading to loss of life and property.
Anas also called on parents and guardians to supervise their children closely, particularly around water bodies and other hazardous areas, to mitigate the risk of drowning. He advised against allowing children to play near puddles, ponds, rivers, and uncovered wells.
