Katsina State Police Arrest 26 Suspects in Late-Night Operation
KATSINA, Nigeria — The Katsina State Police Command announced the arrest of 26 suspected social miscreants following a late-night operation targeting known criminal hideouts in the Katsina metropolis.
According to a statement from Deputy Superintendent of Police Abubakar Sadiq, the operation was executed in the early hours of April 14, 2026. The raid focused on areas identified as black spots for criminal activities, reflecting the police’s commitment to combating social unrest in the region.
The operation was led by the officer-in-charge of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit and involved a coordinated effort across various locations. The arrested individuals are suspected of engaging in gang-related activities, forming unlawful societies, and creating public disturbances.
Police recovered several items during the operation, including live ammunition, a sword, two cutlasses, a sharp knife, sticks, a saw, six mobile phones believed to be stolen, dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 500 Exol tablets, and a pair of military camouflage shirts.
Once the investigation concludes, the suspects will be charged in court. Commissioner of Police Ali Umar Fage praised the operatives for their professionalism and dedication during the operation.
