Chairman’s Family Rescued After Abduction in Kebbi State
Yauri, Kebbi State — The wife and son of Yusuf Alhasan, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yauri Local Government Area, have been released after being held captive by suspected bandits. They were kidnapped on June 22, 2023, when armed assailants invaded Alhasan’s residence in the Low-Cost area around midnight.
The news of their release was reported on Wednesday by security analyst and conflict reporter Bakatsine via social media. According to the post, their captors released the victims following the receipt of a ransom.
Family members expressed appreciation to the community for their support and prayers during the ordeal. They also called for enduring peace and enhanced security throughout the nation.
The abduction raised concerns about increasing insecurity in Kebbi State, which has seen a rise in incidents of kidnapping and armed attacks. As of now, neither local security agencies nor the Kebbi State Government has issued an official statement regarding the situation or the circumstances of their release.
