Kidnappings: Hold govs responsible – Tinubu’s aide, Bwala to Nigerians
Governors Should Bear Responsibility for Kidnappings, Adviser Says
President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has asserted that state governors should be held accountable for the rise in kidnappings throughout Nigeria.
In a recent interview on the Morayo Show, Bwala emphasized that every kidnapping incident in a state should directly implicate the governor. He stated that local safety conditions reflect broader issues in governance and the mismanagement of funds intended for community development and security.
“Every time someone is kidnapped or taken against their will in any part of Nigeria, the governor of that state should be held responsible,” Bwala said. He remarked that these incidents predominantly occur within local government areas.
Bwala also raised concerns regarding the allocation of funds for the Safe School Initiative, a program designed to enhance security in educational institutions. He questioned how the resources allocated for this initiative were utilized. “There was a program called the Safe School Initiative that began, and money was given to states to build fences around schools, set up early warning systems, and conduct safety checks,” he explained.
He urged individuals to inquire about the expenditure of these funds from their respective governors.
