Lagos PDP Faction Suspends Bode George and 23 Others for Alleged Anti-Party Activities

A faction of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of former Deputy National Chairman Bode George and 23 other members. This decision is attributed to alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension was revealed in a statement issued on Friday, signed by Kayode Ogunbiyi, chairman of the party’s disciplinary committee, and secretary Desmond Agbo.

The statement indicated that the decision followed a meeting held on May 26, 2026, during which the committee examined numerous petitions related to actions that could sow divisions and disaffection among party members.

“The decision to suspend George and other erring members was based on resolutions made in the meeting, where various petitions were presented regarding anti-party activities and violations of the PDP constitution,” the statement read.

The committee stated that it also reviewed a previous disciplinary action taken against George by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and affirmed the ongoing suspension.

The list of those suspended alongside George includes Aduke Maina, Abimbola Ogunkelu, Laja Adeoye, Tunji Shele, Sunday Olaifa, Gbenga Adegbesan, Rita Orji, Kofoworola Bucknor, and Onikepo Oshodi, among others.

Additionally, the disciplinary committee examined cases involving members allegedly collaborating with rival political factions or engaging in unauthorized political activities that are seen as harmful to the PDP’s interests.

As part of the suspension terms, the affected members are prohibited from participating in any party activities within Lagos State or representing the PDP in any capacity. The party has also issued a warning that legal action may be pursued against any suspended member acting contrary to the interests of the PDP in the state.
