Natasha’s camp mocks APC over Bello’s clearance despite EFCC

Criticism Mounts Over APC Primaries in Kogi State
By John Alechenu
Abuja — Supporters of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have voiced strong criticism of the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the recent conduct of its legislative primaries in Kogi State. The primaries have been described by some as chaotic and poorly organized.
Samuel Idoko, a media adviser to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, stated that the turmoil following the primaries has revealed significant disarray within the ruling party, calling into question its capability to continue governing the state.
“The irregularities observed during the APC primaries, from the House of Representatives elections to the Senate primaries, are a considerable embarrassment for a party that positions itself as the ruling party,” Idoko told reporters in Abuja. “What the public witnessed was confusion, manipulation, and a blatant absence of internal democracy.”
Idoko specifically criticized the APC’s screening committee for clearing former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to contest for the Senate, despite ongoing corruption investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
“This clearance is shocking and disappointing,” Idoko remarked, asserting that it further undermines the party’s credibility regarding accountability. “The most troubling aspect is that the APC has allowed a candidate facing serious corruption allegations to proceed.”
In addition to his role as media adviser, Idoko is also a candidate for a seat in the Kogi State House of Assembly representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He noted that discontent with the APC may be beneficial for his party’s prospects in the region.
“The PDP is gaining traction at the grassroots level in Kogi East and Kogi Central and is prepared to contest all key positions, from the Senate to the State House of Assembly,” he stated. “The citizens are weary and eager for change.”
Idoko urged supporters and residents to maintain unity as elections approach, emphasizing the PDP’s commitment to addressing issues of governance and equity in Kogi State.
