NCDC Condemns Attacks in Benue State Communities
The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has expressed deep sorrow over recent attacks on the Otukpo-Nobi and Akpachi-Ugboju communities in the Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The violent incidents resulted in loss of life and significant damage to homes and property. Dr. Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, Managing Director of the NCDC, condemned the attacks as senseless and extended condolences to the families of the victims, the injured, and the broader community, as well as to the government and people of Benue State.
The NCDC emphasized that peace and security are essential for sustainable development, warning that such acts of violence hinder efforts to improve livelihoods and accelerate socio-economic transformation in the North Central region.
The Commission urged security agencies to intensify efforts to bring those responsible for the attacks to justice. It also called on authorities to implement proactive measures to restore peace, enhance security, and protect lives and property in the affected areas.
In a statement, Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Head of Corporate Communications, affirmed the NCDC’s solidarity with the Government of Benue State and the impacted communities during this challenging time.
The NCDC offered prayers for the deceased, wished for a swift recovery for the injured, and called for lasting peace throughout Benue State and the entire North Central region.
