NSCDC arrests 210 suspects over vandalism, fraud in Ogun

Ogun NSCDC Arrests 210 Suspects Over Past 18 Months
Abeokuta, Nigeria — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ogun State Command has apprehended 210 suspects in the past 18 months on various charges, including vandalism, fraud, and illegal mining.
During a recent visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ogun Council, State Commandant Mrs. Remilekun Ekundayo highlighted these developments, underscoring the command’s ongoing commitment to addressing criminal activities.
Ekundayo reported that the NSCDC had recovered over 23 million naira for victims of fraud-related offenses and successfully resolved more than 1,700 disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution methods. She attributed these successes to intelligence-driven operations that have safeguarded vital infrastructure, including pipelines, railway corridors, and power installations.
“The command’s achievements reflect our commitment to enhancing security,” Ekundayo said, urging stronger collaboration with the media to increase public awareness.
The commandant noted the importance of journalists in shaping public perception and facilitating communication between governmental institutions and the community. “In matters of security, your role becomes even more strategic and impactful,” she added.
The State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Wale Olanrewaju, expressed the union’s support for the NSCDC and emphasized the importance of accurate and prompt reporting on security issues.
