NSCDC arrests suspected cable vandals in Lagos community

Suspected Vandals Arrested in Lagos for Telecom Cable Destruction

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Lagos State Command has arrested several suspects in connection with the vandalism of armored telecommunications cables in the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos State.

The arrests occurred after local residents alerted NSCDC operatives to suspicious activities in their community.

Oluwaseun Abolurin, Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued Thursday. He highlighted that the operation resulted from credible intelligence provided by the community, emphasizing the role of public cooperation in law enforcement efforts.

“This breakthrough is part of the command’s ongoing initiatives to combat vandalism and safeguard critical infrastructure throughout Lagos State,” Abolurin said. He praised the residents of Amuwo for their timely information and cooperation, which he deemed crucial to the successful operation.

Abolurin further noted that the partnership between residents and security agencies has been bolstered by community engagement programs organized by the command in collaboration with relevant stakeholders during the first and second quarters of 2026.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
