NSCDC busts interstate car-snatching syndicate across six states

NSCDC Dismantles Interstate Car-Snatching Syndicate
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has dismantled an interstate car-snatching syndicate believed to be operating in the Federal Capital Territory and surrounding states, including Nasarawa, Kaduna, Benue, Kogi, and Plateau.
A press statement from Afolabi Babawale, Assistant Commandant and Corps National Public Relations Officer, confirmed the operation, which followed directives from Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.
According to the statement, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad apprehended six suspects: Hassan Bukar, Adam Musa (also known as Yellow), Ibrahim Haruna (known as Biggie), Adamu Mohammed, Sahal Abdullahi Aliyu, and Abubakar Yusuf. Several accomplices remain at large.
Preliminary investigations have indicated that the syndicate specialized in the theft of vehicles, which were then dismantled by complicit scrap dealers. Parts were sold to obscure the origins of the stolen cars.
Further investigations linked these suspects to a broader criminal network engaged in the supply, resale, and concealment of stolen vehicles across multiple states.
The NSCDC has confirmed that charges of criminal conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property, and aiding concealment will be pursued under the applicable provisions of the Penal Code.
The Corps reiterated its commitment to eradicating criminal networks, protecting national assets, and ensuring prosecution of all suspects to deter future crimes.
Additionally, the NSCDC advised the public to verify vehicle ownership documents before making any purchases and to report any suspicious activities to the relevant security agencies.
