Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 Draws Thousands in Enugu
Enugu, Nigeria — On September 10, 2026, the Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 event, themed “Beyond Quotas: Unlocking Opportunities for Enugu Youths through the Federal Character Commission,” took place at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Enugu. The program was organized by Mr. Peter Ogbonna Eze, the Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State in the Federal Character Commission.
From early morning, the venue buzzed with energy as attendees flocked in, transforming the space with promotional materials including flyers and banners displaying messages about the event. Youths arrived in large numbers, accompanied by parents and guardians who dropped off their children.
Registration at the venue saw a significant turnout, with lines forming as participants eagerly prepared to engage in the event. The main hall, which accommodates 5,000 people, reached full capacity before the scheduled start time of 10:00 a.m. Many attendees settled in both the interior and the lobby, reflecting their enthusiasm for the opportunities the program was set to offer.
At approximately 11:15 a.m., Mr. Peter Ogbonna Eze and Hon. Mrs. Ayo Omidiran, Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, made a grand entrance, greeted by applause from the audience. The event was officially inaugurated by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, Secretary to the Enugu State Government, who represented Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
In his opening remarks, Prof. Onyia praised the initiative as an important platform for Enugu youths and highlighted various youth empowerment programs under Governor Mbah’s administration. He commended the efforts to elevate the state’s economy and provide tangible support for its younger residents.
Mr. Eze delivered a compelling address, underscoring his commitment to empowering the youth. He encouraged attendees to apply for job opportunities and debunked the misconception that federal jobs are distributed before vacancies are announced.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders for his appointment and urged the youth to remain proactive despite the challenges they face.
Following Eze’s speech, Hon. Mrs. Omidiran outlined the Federal Character Commission’s constitutional responsibilities and discussed job-seeking strategies for the attendees. She commended Mr. Eze for his dedication to youth empowerment.
Senator Dr. Barr. Emmanuel Onwe, another keynote speaker, challenged the youth to stay prepared for opportunities that could enhance their futures, stressing the importance of knowledge. He referenced Mr. Eze as a model for young people who seize opportunities through their preparation.
Other speakers included Mr. Ronald Oroh, an agribusiness specialist, who urged the youth to pursue training in agribusiness, as well as a team from DELYORK (IDICE) and representatives from Jobberman, who provided insights into technology jobs, skills acquisition, and entrepreneurship.
A highlight of the event was the award of five fully funded scholarships to the United States, formally supervised by key dignitaries. The recipients expressed their gratitude for the opportunity and the information they gained during the event.
Attendees enjoyed performances by the Global Dance Cultural Troupe, and the event culminated in a question-and-answer session allowing youths to engage directly with Mr. Eze.
Despite the program extending into the evening, participants remained engaged and attentive, leaving the venue with a sense of fulfillment and optimism.
The success of the Peter Eze Youth Connect 2026 not only highlighted the potential of Enugu youths but also showcased Mr. Eze’s ability to inspire and mobilize the younger generation toward greater social and professional engagement.
Among those in attendance were various local dignitaries, including members of the Enugu State House of Assembly and community leaders, reflecting a significant collective interest in youth development in the region.
