Osun police arrest four over attempted murder, firearms possession
Four Arrested in Modakeke for Alleged Violent Crimes
The Osun State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with conspiracy, attempted murder, assault, and unlawful possession of firearms in Modakeke, located in the Ife East Local Government Area.
The arrests were made following a petition submitted to the Commissioner of Police regarding the alleged offenses. Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abiodun Ojelabi reported that the suspects were taken into custody around 2 a.m. on August 9, 2026.
The individuals identified are Olufemi Olatunji, 39; Ajayi Idowu, 31; Akingbala Oluwakemi, 40; and Adekunle Basirat, also 40.
During searches of their residences, police recovered two firearms: a locally made cut-to-size firearm and a pump-action shotgun. The locally made firearm was found in Basirat’s shop, while the pump-action shotgun was discovered at Oluwakemi’s home.
Authorities noted that Basirat is the spouse of Solomon Akinlabi, also known as “Indomine,” and Oluwakemi is married to Akingbala Akindele, who is referred to as “Ostand.”
The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
In a related operation, police from the Violent Crime Response Unit arrested six suspected members of an unlawful society following reports of an armed invasion at the Osun State Polytechnic in Iree, where two students were reportedly injured.
The suspects have been identified as Ajoba Akorede, 27; Adam Oseni, 27; Ogunrinde Ayomide, 21; Ogunlana Muheez, 26; Ajose Noah, 25; and Adeniyi Damola, 25. During interrogation, Akorede and Oseni admitted to being affiliated with the Aye confraternity, though it has not been confirmed if they are students at the institution.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing, and authorities plan to bring charges against the suspects in court once inquiries are complete. Efforts continue to identify and apprehend additional suspects connected to the Modakeke case.
