Oyo abduction: Insurgents weep after bagging life imprisonment [VIDEO]

Three Convicted Terrorists Sentenced to Life Imprisonment in Oyo Abduction Case

Three individuals convicted in connection with the kidnapping of school children and teachers in Oyo State were sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday. The men, identified as Abdulrazak Umar, also known as Abu Khalifa/Abu Khalid; Yunusa Musa, referred to as Yunusa Bin Musa; and Shamsu Adamu Sani, alias Abu Itisar, were found guilty of being members of a proscribed terrorist organization.

The sentencing follows a trial conducted by the Department of State Services (DSS). Video footage circulating online shows the convicted men visibly upset as they were escorted from the courtroom following their sentencing.

The abduction incident occurred on May 15, 2026, when students and educators were taken from the Orire local government area of Oyo State. They were held captive in a forest for nearly two months before their release on July 10, 2026.

In the aftermath of the sentencing, some members of the public have expressed their outrage on social media, calling for the death penalty for those involved in the crime.
