Yobe State Police Arrest 14 Suspected Drug Dealers
The Yobe State Police Command announced the arrest of 14 individuals suspected of drug trafficking during a coordinated operation in the Jakusko Local Government Area. The raid, aimed at disrupting criminal activities, specifically targeted drug sales at Buduwa Market.
According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to combat crime throughout the state.
The arrested suspects range in age from 20 to 35 and include Hamisu Umar, Usman Wakili, Aliyu Mohammed, and several others. Those taken into custody were allegedly involved in the sale, consumption, and abuse of illicit drugs.
During the operation, police recovered over 300 sachets and packages of various controlled substances, including Tramadol, Vega tablets, and Indian hemp.
Further investigations are underway, with the suspects providing information that may lead to additional arrests within their criminal network. The police indicated that formal charges will be filed once the investigation concludes.
Yobe State Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin has instructed area commanders and tactical units to increase efforts in raiding known drug hideouts statewide. He emphasized the command’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding drug trafficking and substance abuse, describing these issues as significant contributors to violent crime and other illegal activities.
