Troops foil terrorists’ ambush, dismantle hideouts in Borno
Borno State Troops Thwart Boko Haram Ambush
BUI, Nigeria – Troops from Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled an ambush by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Monday along the Buni Gari–Buratai axis in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
During a routine patrol, the military personnel encountered the insurgents and engaged them, forcing a withdrawal from the region. Mohammed Goni, the acting spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the incident in a statement.
Following the initial encounter, reinforcements were dispatched to the site to secure the area and conduct further operations.
Goni reported that troops dismantled several makeshift camps, believed to be used by the terrorists for staging and hiding. Recovery efforts yielded a motorcycle, bicycles, ammunition, and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).
No military personnel were reported killed or injured in the skirmish; however, some military vehicles sustained damage. Goni stated that operations in the area continue as troops maintain an active presence on the ground.
