Gusau Police Target Reckless Riding, Public Disturbance in Recent Operation

Zamfara State – The Zamfara State Police Command has intensified efforts to address public disturbances and reckless motorcycle riding, resulting in the arrest of 21 suspects and the seizure of 20 motorcycles during a recent operation in the Gusau Local Government Area.

The operation, conducted on June 7, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., was prompted by ongoing complaints from residents in the communities of Birnin Ruwa, Tullukawa, and Yar Gada. Locals reported increased incidents involving groups of youths, referred to as “Arlet Boys,” who allegedly engaged in dangerous motorcycle stunts that posed a threat to public safety.

According to police officials, the coordinated raids targeted known criminal hideouts and areas identified as hotspots for such activities.

Police Public Relations Officer DSP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the details at a press briefing, stating that the suspects are currently undergoing screening and further investigation.

“The ongoing operation will continue to ensure the affected communities are free of criminal elements, thereby safeguarding lives and property,” Abubakar said. He also indicated that individuals found guilty following the investigations will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
