A 33-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Alleged Visa Fraud in Ondo State
A 33-year-old woman has been arrested by the Ondo State Police for allegedly defrauding over 90 individuals in a visa scam.
The suspect, Adejoke Ayomide, is from Adesoye Street in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. She was taken into custody following a complaint lodged by the law firm Akindayomi Oluwa Tobi & Associates.
According to Abayomi Jimoh, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayomide is accused of receiving approximately ₦42.3 million in her bank account, falsely claiming that she would facilitate travel visas to several European countries.
Jimoh reported that after receiving the funds, Ayomide became unreachable, prompting her victims to report the matter to the police. Officers were able to locate and arrest her on Wednesday.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Ayomide presented herself as a travel consultant capable of securing visas for Spain, Portugal, and France. Victims entrusted her with their travel documents for visa processing, reportedly totaling ₦42,326,000.
The suspect is currently in police custody, where she has provided confessional statements. Authorities are working to uncover the full extent of the alleged fraud, identify any accomplices, and ascertain whether there are additional victims. Ayomide is expected to face charges once the investigation concludes.
