Police arrest Edo man over alleged defilement of six-year-old stepdaughter


Edo State police apprehended a 57-year-old man, Kadiri Edenokun, for allegedly defiling his six-year-old stepdaughter. The arrest took place in Jattu, Auchi, located in Edo North.

Public Relations Officer Eno Ikoedem released a statement on Wednesday, confirming the arrest. She noted that the victim is currently receiving medical treatment provided by the Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs as the investigation continues.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the offense multiple times,” Ikoedem stated.

As the investigation progresses, Edenokun remains in police custody and is expected to face charges once the inquiry is complete.

In a related development, the police recovered a second Toyota Highlander that had been stolen during a robbery at the home of Hon. Kennedy Odion, the state chairman of the African Democratic Congress, on September 6, 2026. The vehicle, identified by its registration number LSR 729 HY, was tracked down along 3rd Cemetery Street in New Benin after receiving credible intelligence.

Ikoedem assured the public that the police remain committed to finding the remaining stolen items and apprehending all individuals involved in the robbery.
