Ekiti Police Arrest Suspected Cult Member in Ado-Ekiti

Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria — Operatives from the Ekiti State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a suspected member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. The suspect, identified as Adeleke Tosin, also known as Damo, was apprehended on April 16, 2026, following a credible tip-off regarding his possession of a locally made pistol.

The police reported that a detailed operation led to Tosin’s arrest after he was spotted within the city with the firearm. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to being a member of the confraternity and acknowledged involvement in recent violent clashes between rival cult groups in the area, which resulted in fatalities among opposing members.

Authorities recovered the pistol from Tosin at the time of his arrest. Police officials have stated that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend other members of the group who may still be fleeing.

Tosin is expected to face charges in court upon the conclusion of the investigation, according to police sources.

In a statement regarding the arrest, Ekiti State Commissioner of Police CP Falade Adegoroye Michael emphasized the importance of community vigilance and encouraged residents to provide the police with reliable information to combat criminal activity in the state. He also issued a warning to cultists and other criminal entities, asserting that law enforcement will pursue justice rigorously.
