Portugal: Very sad, you’re tainting your legacy – Mark Goldbridge to Cristiano Ronaldo
Mark Goldbridge, a prominent YouTuber, expressed concern over Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent actions, suggesting that they are negatively impacting his legacy. Goldbridge made these comments during an appearance on “The Overlap Daily.”
The discussion arose following Ronaldo’s Instagram statement explaining his departure from the Portugal national team camp ahead of a Nations League match against Norway. In the wake of this incident, Ronaldo issued an apology to his teammates and faced a suspension from the Portuguese Football Federation.
“Messi goes out to massive applause and respect, while Ronaldo is tainting his legacy through his own doing, and that is very, very sad,” Goldbridge said.
He further noted that Ronaldo appears to be struggling with the prospect of retirement and the visible decline of his status in the sport. “It’s sad to see,” he added.
Despite the recent controversy, Pedro Proença, President of the Portuguese Football Federation, confirmed that Ronaldo is expected to rejoin the national team during the upcoming international break in November.
